Here is some more usefull info. This was written by Alex president of the Bay Area Searchers of San Bruno.

“I mentioned during our last meeting that I ran into Steve Castile, Turf Manager & Golf Operations

Director, while detecting on Big Rec recently. Naturally I felt a little anxiety as he

approached me, but that quickly disappeared after he immediately asked for my help whenever

I find a sprinkler by not filling the hole. It gave me the opportunity to talk about our

club, and the service we are providing to GGP by removing trash, and objects (e.g., hypodermic

needles) that are dangerous to the public; especially children. He clearly had an appreciation

for what we're doing, and he told me that we can hunt in GGP as long we're not

interfering with play on the field. That led me to discuss the following issue:

One of the park rangers has been telling detectorists that we cannot detect in GGP; more

precisely dig any holes in GGP. Steve told me that whenever we encounter a ranger and they

ask us to leave, then we can mention we've been given permission by the Turf Manager to

hunt GGP and ask them to contact him on his cell phone. You might elaborate by telling them

the service we're providing - finding sprinklers for the parks workers, and removing dangerous,

sharp metal objects. Here are his details:

Steve Castile

Turf Manager / Golf Operations Director

Cell: 415-297-1853

Tel: 415-841-0856

Naturally, if the ranger has no interest in listening or contacting Steve then your best bet is

to follow their orders by leaving the area. If this happens then let the club know, and then

we can consider escalating the matter.
